Art Deco Taussant Glass Sphinx Figural Powder Jar Aqua Ice Blue

An Art Deco Eqyptian Revival figural powder jar known as Sphinx, or sometimes King Tut, and referenced on page 45 in Bedroom & Bathroom Glassware of the Depression Years by Whitmyer. The aqua iced blue shade is hard to find, and the jar was made by Taussant Glass and sold by Dermay of 5th Ave.

This puff box features a hexagonal lid with a figural finial in the shape of a Sphinx head. The three footed base is a conical hexagon. The jar with lid measures 5 x 5.25 inches. There is a smooth shallow chip under the rim of the lid, otherwise both lid and jar are in excellent condition, and the base is marked 'Taussant Glass'
