Depression Glass Lotus Octagonal Whipped Cream Set

An Elegant Depression Glass Whipped Cream or Mayonnaise set, in the Octagonal pattern, with bowl, underplate and curved ladle, all in glowing green glass, copiously trimmed with gold and a wheel cut floral design by the Lotus Glass Co. The skillfully cut flowers form four panels with gold webs separating each, and additional gilding around the pointed octagonal rim, which, in the bowl, is gently turned under. The fine glass set was made by one of the companies the Lotus decorating company contracted with, and is referenced on an old Lotus ad pictured in Hazel Marie Weatherman's Colored Glassware of the Depression Era 2Dimensions and Condition: The plate is 8 inches diameter, 81/2 across the points, and the bowl 5 inch diameter with a folded rim span of about 71/2 inches. Total height is over 4 inches. The ladle is about 51/2 inches long and has a small smooth flaw in the glass on one edge. Other than mild wear to the gold trim in a few places, the condition is excellent.
