SKU: The Mexicali powder jar was produced by Akro Agate, circa 1930, for the Pickwick Cosmetic Corp.One side of the base has an embossed figure of a seated Mexican having a siesta under a cactus, on the opposite side he is playing a guitar. The lid is shaped like a sombrero. These powder jars were originally filled with a spicy bath powder, and used as cigarette jars once empty. This orange-red marbleized powder jar is shown and described on page 64 of Whitmyer - Bedroom & Bathroom Glassware of the Depression Years. Both the jar and its lid are in excellent condition
