This bisque porcelain box has an oval shape and a sage green background on which the white bas relief contrasts beautifully.

Two winged cherubs adorn the lid, with the one seated holding a bow and arrow in his lower hand, suggesting he is Cupid. The other cherub may be a girl, as she is wearing a feminine ribboned flowing sash around her waist. This second cherub is kneeling on one knee and has hands outstretched toward a flaming heart in Cupid's raised upper hand

The cameo on the lid is further adorned with grass and flowers, as well as beading and striations at the outer rim.

The base of the oval green jasperware box has a white bas relief floral sprig in front, and has the S&V trademark crown plus star with R in the center, along with the number 3406 engraved on the base. There are also four more letters or symbols, which may have been the artist signature mark, but they are not clear enough to decipher.

Dimensions are 4 3/4 x 3 1/2 x 2 1/2 inches

The condition is excellent with very light wear, and only the characteristic undulations and uneven coloration that S&V pieces have. The smooth indentation on the inner rim of the base that can be seen in the photos is a manufacturing flaw and not a chip. The lid fits loosely, again characteristic of these antique handmade pieces by S&V
